Walking in the Moonlight

Blog Post Picture 10.13.19 Moon at sunset over the mountains

I went for a walk yesterday.

I was busy most of the day working on background research for my book. It was a lot of fun but it meant I was sitting nearly all day in front of the computer. Before I knew it, the sun was setting and I hadn’t had any exercise. So, I went for a walk.

It was so wonderful. The moon was out. It hung, nearly full, white and glowing, just above the rooftops. As I walked through the neighborhood I could smell dinners cooking. I could see kids chatting in groups as they walked down the street on their way home. The street lights came on giving me the sense I had fallen into some sort of beautiful postcard picturesque existence.

The walk bonded me to my own feelings and built up my love for the neighborhood I live in. It calmed my worries and cemented my feelings of belonging. It filled in the empty parts of me and was so much more than exercise. I came home buzzing with gratitude for the life I get to live and the surroundings I am blessed to inhabit.

Now, I think today I will snuggle down and watch horror movies with my partner and enjoy the warmth and love indoors.
