I went for a walk yesterday. I took the boys to the dentist in the morning (no cavities!) and when I came home all I wanted to do was binge eat comfort food. But you know what? I didn’t do it. I am not sure what gave me the strength, but instead of chowing down, I went for a walk in the neighborhood. I admired the fall leaves. I let the crisp air kiss my cheeks. I smiled at neighbors. I listened to a podcast on my headphones. And then, when I got back home, it was time for lunch and I made myself a smoothie.
I was surprised I found myself able to do that. And you know, I really enjoyed the walk. I don’t doubt for a second that it made me feel a heck of a lot better than a bag of chips.
So that was my victory for the day.
